From IWG Belmar to Integrative You: The Story Behind NJ's Black Sheep Practice
A short history of NJ's most referred integrative clinic
We get this question every week: "What happened to Integrative Wellness Group in Belmar? Are you still seeing patients?"
Short answer: yes. Different model. Same doctors. Better outcomes. Here's the long version.
2011 — IWG opens in Belmar
Dr. Nicole Rivera and Dr. Nick Carruthers opened Integrative Wellness Group in a small Belmar, New Jersey storefront. The thesis was simple: most chronic illness in NJ wasn't being root caused, and there wasn't a practice on the Jersey Shore willing to sit with a complex case for the 12 months it actually took to remap it.
2015–2019 — Growth to 6,000 sq ft
By 2015, the practice had outgrown its first space and moved into a 6,000 sq ft Belmar facility — adjusting suites, an infrared sauna, low level laser, ionic detox, movement studio, foot bath lounge, reception, full lab draw station. At peak, IWG ran 20+ employees and was one of the most referred integrative medicine clinics in NJ.
The patient mix was hybrid from day one. Half walked in from Monmouth, Ocean, and Bergen counties. Half flew in from across the US, EU, Australia, and Japan for week long intensives.
2017 — The home equipment company
Around 2017 we noticed something strange in the patient data: our long distance patients — the ones we'd shipped home with AmpCoil, red light, brain entrainment, foot baths, lymphatic compression, bioresonance — were getting better results than the patients commuting weekly into the Belmar clinic.
We launched a second company specifically to ship that equipment to virtual patients' homes. Same therapies. No 90 minute drive each way. Outcomes improved.
That was the first data point that pointed at where the practice would eventually go.
2021–2022 — Closing the brick and mortar
In 2021 our son arrived. Running a 20+ employee NJ clinic, a full patient panel, and being present parents stopped being a sustainable equation. Combined with the virtual outcome data, the decision became clear.
In 2022, we closed the Belmar facility, transitioned the patient panel to virtual care, and began rebuilding the practice around the model the data had been pointing at for five years.
2022–2025 — Concierge rebuild
The first phase of the rebuild was Private Concierge — a small, deeply supported tier for the most complex multi system cases. This is where we sharpened the integration of Klinghardt 5 Levels, IFM, DNA precision, and the emotional/ancestral layer into one delivery system instead of three separate workflows.
2025–2026 — Foundation + DNA Precision open
In 2025, we opened access. Foundation and DNA Precision brought the same model — minus the white glove concierge cadence — to a much wider audience. NJ families who couldn't have afforded the brick and mortar model can work with us now for less than a single visit at most concierge MD practices.
Why we still call it "the NJ practice"
Because we are. Both founders still live in New Jersey. The practice was born here. The patient community is heavily NJ. The /new jersey landing page is built around the NJ identity for exactly that reason.
