2011. Dr. Nicole Rivera and Dr. Nick Carruthers opened Integrative Wellness Group in Belmar, NJ — a 6,000 square foot integrative medicine clinic on the Jersey Shore. At its peak the practice ran with 20+ employees: doctors, nurses, ART practitioners, energy-medicine specialists, intake coordinators, and a full in-house lab and therapy floor.
It was never just a local clinic. From year one, IWG operated as a hybrid practice — NJ patients walking through the Belmar doors, and long-distance clients across the United States, Europe, Australia, and Japan working with us virtually. The case complexity that brought people to NJ from three continents is the same complexity Integrative You still works today.
The equipment company. The piece most people don't know: we launched a separate company to ship the same therapeutic devices we used inside the Belmar clinic — AmpCoil, red light therapy panels, brain entrainment, ionic detox foot baths, lymphatic compression suits, bioresonance devices — directly to our virtual patients' homes. The idea was to let long-distance clients experience IWG without the flight.
What we discovered changed the trajectory of the practice: our virtual patients with home equipment were getting better results than the patients commuting into the clinic. Daily access beat weekly appointments. Implementation at home beat brilliant protocols on paper.
2021 — our son arrived. Juggling 20+ employees, a full patient panel, and being present parents stopped being sustainable. We already knew the virtual-plus-home-equipment model worked. Now we had to convince ourselves it was time to bet the practice on it.
2022 — the bold step back. We closed the Belmar location and rebuilt the practice from scratch as a world-class virtual concierge integrative medicine model. The results, with focused founders and a tighter system, were astounding — and they're still the spine of Private Concierge today.
2025 — accessibility. Concierge worked, but the mission was always to reach families globally — not just the ones who could afford the top tier. So we launched Foundation ($348/quarter) and DNA Precision to make root-cause integrative medicine reachable for families who'd been priced out of this kind of care.
Today — US-run, globally lived. Integrative You is still a US business, with our US-based team and our medical-device shipments going out of the United States to members nationwide. Nick and I split our time between the US and Italy while we run the practice — there is no Italy clinic and no Italy office. The only Italy work we do in person is a Tuscany health immersion we host 1–2 times a year for members and partners. Everything else — your visits, your labs, your protocols, your supplements — runs out of the US, just like it did in Belmar.
