- Tried-everything family — antibiotics, allergists, GI specialists, OT, behavioral therapy. Nobody connects the dots.

What to look for
- Functional/specialty labs, not just standard pediatric panels. Organic Acids (OAT), GI-MAP, Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis, MARCoNS, mycotoxin, MAPS. If they only run an in-network CBC + CMP, you''re back where you started.
- Family-system thinking. Pediatric root cause is rarely just the kid. The mom''s gut, the dad''s mold exposure, the house''s water — they all show up in the child''s chart. An integrative pediatrician who only works the kid is missing the lever.
- Mental-emotional integration. GNM, somatic work, EMDR, polyvagal-informed care. The nervous system runs the immune system. If your "integrative pediatrician" never asks about trauma, sleep architecture, or vagal tone, that''s a gap.
- No-supplement-stack-on-day-one rule. A good integrative pediatrician collects 90 days of pattern data before stacking 17 supplements on a 7-year-old.
What to skip
- "Integrative" practices that just sell the same protocol to every child.
- Anything that requires a "package" before the workup.
- Anyone who can''t tell you what they''d do if the first protocol didn''t move the needle in 90 days.
