What Is the Best Test for Mold Illness?

The short answer

There is no single test that proves a building caused an illness. Start with moisture history and a qualified building inspection. A clinician can then evaluate symptoms and choose established tests for the conditions in question; ERMI is a research tool, not an EPA-recommended consumer health test.

Start with visible moisture, musty odors, water-damage history and a qualified inspection. The EPA does not recommend ERMI for routine consumer decisions because it was developed as a research tool.

Then test the body
